Interviewer: Izabel KovačIć, lunilou founder

Izabel: So, describe the collection in oneword or whatever you can think of.

Mateo: It has a kind of vintage look. I like vintage pieces. It really has a vintage look. It’s cool.

Izabel: What are your favorite colors?

Joško: Mine is green, yours is blue.
Mateo: Well, mine is blue, but now when I look down it’s brown. Blue and brown.
Joško: Ok, I associate myself with the color green - I like it and I wanted to show how good green can look on someone.
Mateo: You brought a part of yourself into the collection.

Izabel: Yes, your first memory of soccer?

Mateo: If I have to answer off the top of my head, it’s when I went to the playground with my dad. I always played with him. That’s the first thing that comes to my mind.
Joško: I was very young, I was 5 or 6 years old. Dad took me by the hand and took me to the sports field near the neighborhood, NK Trešnjevka, and that’s where it all started.

Izabel: I’m interested in the biggest fashion fail in your career.

Joško: laughs.
Mateo: I didn’t think there were any, but when I see photos, there have been a few. Sunglasses, but the bigger ones, because I like wearing small sunglasses now.

Izabel: You influenced everyone with your little sunglasses.

Mateo: Yeah, I like small sunglasses.
Joško: As far as I’m concerned, I think it’s skinny jeans.
Izabel: skinny jeans.
Joško: Probably - more or less all of us went through and past this phase.
Mateo: I hope so.

Izabel: What is your favorite Croatian food?

Joško: Mine is definitely “zagorske štrukle”. Ever since I was little my mom made it at home - so it’s my favorite.

Izabel: What do you miss most when you are abroad?

Joško: We agree on the answer - it’s family and friends.
Mateo: Family and friends. Of course you make new friends where you are, like we are together now in Manchester, but still your people are here where you grew up and for sure you miss them, but it’s part of our job.

Izabel: Great, film…

Mateo: No, not abs, but the T-shirts. Look. Green color, Joško.

Izabel: What advice would you give your younger self?

Mateo: I wouldn’t want to change anything. You can give advice, but that’s part of growing up - making mistakes in some situations.
Joško: Yes.
Mateo: Maybe minimize a few nervous breakdowns in some situations. Maybe that. “Mateo don’t be annoyed!” but what can I do, it’s a part of me, but yes I could minimize that a bit.
Joško: So, when I was a bit younger, I was a bit wild. I don’t know, with a bit of luck and with the family, parents that I have, thank God I got on the right track.
Joško: I would say stick to school and sport and of course listen to the parents at home.
Mateo: Just like you did.
Joško: Yes, I did, but -
Izabel: You see, he didn’t always…
